Things to Do Nearby
The ranch is in the heart of the California gold
country near where gold was discovered.
Nearby are the gold-rush towns of Fiddletown,
Sutter Creek, Drytown, Jackson, Columbia,
Sonora and Placerville.
There are more than 20 wineries within 15
minutes of the ranch offering tasting rooms.
Some have picnic areas and special events with
food, music and wine.
There is always something going on in the
nearby towns - The Blues and Brew Festival,
Dandilion Days and the County Fair with its,
Rodeo and Demolition Derby are all within 15
minutes. Or, you can enter a rubber duck in the
Duck Race or a very real frog in the Jumping
Frog contest. Of course there are plenty of
restaurants, shops, and antique stores.
Kirkwood Ski Resort is a little more than an hour
away. Lake Tahoe is two hours away. Here is a
great mini-vacation we often do: Drive to Tahoe
in the afternoon. Play poker or craps, have a
good dinner, stay at one of the casino hotels
(often for free) then spend the next day skiing
Heavenly Valley, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows
or Kirkwood and still be home by dinnertime.
